Growth form:tree. Height: 2.5-10.5 m. Twigs: young twigs flattened, wine-red or gray-green, turning brown with blackish. Leaves: leathery, oblong to elliptic, finely toothed or spiny margins, up to 15 cm. Flowers: bisexual, inconspicuous, yellow-green, in axillary cymes. Fruits: ovoid drupes, yellow turning dark red, with a single seed.
