Type: evergreen tree. Height: up to 30 m, with a massive trunk, aerial roots forming pillars, and a broad crown (>100 m). Leaves: leathery, oval to elliptical, glabrous above and pubescent beneath, with robust stipules. Flowers: male ostiolar flowers and female flowers mixed with gall flowers. Fruits: globose to depressed syconia, red when ripe, hairy, sessile, often in pairs.
