Leaves: Evergreen, leathery, alternate, oval or lanceolate, cartilaginous margins loosely toothed, 4–6 slightly raised veins on each side of the midrib
Flowers: Dioecious, yellowish, in small many-flowered bracteolate clusters, petals absent, style bi- to trifid
Fruits: Seeds with open dorsal groove
